How to Remove Phone Number from Discord on Mobile and Web

Discord is a popular instant messaging app used for everything from casual conversations to professional workspaces. While the mobile apps and desktop clients for Discord are quite similar, there are some subtle differences. For example, Discord’s mobile apps require that you use an account password to make certain modifications. This means that when you want to change your username or remove a phone number, you must enter in your password.

Discord currently lets you remove a phone number from either the desktop/browser account settings or the mobile app. The labels can move as the interface changes, but the control is normally under My Account on desktop and Account > Phone on mobile. Discord may impose a waiting period before the removed number can be attached to another account.

You do not have to delete the account or supply a replacement number just to remove the current number. Make sure the account has a verified email address and a password you can use before changing login details. Then follow the relevant steps below:

On Android

Open Discord’s mobile app, tap your avatar in the bottom-right corner, and then tap the cogwheel in the top-right. Open Account, tap the Phone field, and choose “Remove Phone Number.” Confirm with your password when prompted.

On iOS

The current iOS flow is the same basic mobile flow: avatar > Settings > Account > Phone > Remove Phone Number, followed by password confirmation. If those labels differ, update the app and look under Account rather than relying on the position of an old menu icon.

On the Discord website

On desktop or in a browser, select the cogwheel beside your username, open My Account, and press Remove beside the phone number. Enter your password and confirm Remove.

It should be noted that even if you try deleting your phone number from Discord’s website, you’ll still be asked to provide your password for verification.

Before removing the number, confirm that you can sign in with the account’s email address and password. If the number belongs to an accidental account, Discord’s official recovery flow uses the phone number to reset that account’s password, add an email, and then remove the number. ## Official instructions
