Discord is one of the most popular apps, with over 50 million monthly users. But sometimes, it doesn’t work properly on your phone.
The core mobile problem you may be experiencing is that either Discord doesn’t open or crashes immediately after launch. You might see a blank screen where Discord should open. There could also be corrupted app files, causing Discord to appear as if it’s not working. Sometimes, the issue lies elsewhere — maybe another app is interfering, or there’s an issue specific to your phone. We’ll walk through all of these potential issues in turn, from the simplest troubleshooting steps to the more complicated solutions.
Discord not working
Discord’s Android and iOS apps are quite similar, though the exact problems you might run into vary. If Discord won’t open, restart the app first (which may be found under Settings), then reboot the device. You can check for updates, but this usually happens automatically. Also, ensure that the permissions that Discord needs to function have been enabled. On iOS, check the App Store; on Android, use the Google Play Store. If none of those steps help, try clearing the cache and data within the settings menu.
It’s also possible that there’s an actual server-side outage, which means no fix exists at the phone end. Real-time problems and outages, however, are trackable via external status monitors, including Discord itself. A dedicated status monitor may show how its services are running across the globe. Checking the server status isn’t just good practice — it’s a core part of any troubleshooting strategy.
Audio/video issues
If your audio and video stop working while using Discord on your phone, you’ll need to take some extra steps. First, make sure that the correct output devices are selected for each application. If they aren’t, your system won’t send them to the right location, which will break communication. Finally, it’s also worth noting that there’s a known issue with joining voice channels on Android, which we’ve previously covered extensively.
Number errors
You may have received an error stating that “the number you provided does not exist” when attempting to log into Discord. In reality, Discord does require a valid phone number to log in. This includes ensuring the number is properly formatted, as well as being a valid number under your country’s numbering plan.
